For the removal of illegal dumping call Joburg Connect on 0860 562 874 or 0860-JOBURG to log a call. Pikitup only attends to illegal dumping on pavements, streets and council-owned land; illegal dumping in parks is the responsibility of City Parks.

Illegal dumping on privately-owned land falls under the environmental health directorate. Each of the city's regions has its own environmental health section where illegal dumping can be reported.
A monthly fee charged by the City of Johannesburg for household or business waste removal. Linked to your property’s market value and includes weekly bin collection, landfill disposal, and cleaning services. Also includes the City Cleaning Levy which funds street sweeping, public bin maintenance, and cleaning of public areas.
Property category – Residential, business, or other (affects the rate).
Property value – Used to calculate the base refuse charge.
Service frequency – Weekly for residential, more frequent for some businesses.
City Cleaning Levy – Flat monthly amount for city-wide cleaning services.

All 240-litre wheeled bins used in the city belongs to Pikitup. If you move home or business, your bin must remain at the existing property.
Homeowners and businesses are charged for the service provided by Pikitup.
Every day you will spot a Pikitup truck stopping next to a kerb to empty a collection of black wheelie bins. This is just one of Pikitup’s fleet that covers the entire 1 625km² of the city, collecting and disposing of some 1,4 million tons of domestic waste generated every year.
As the City’s official waste management service provider, it is Pikitup’s responsibility to keep the city clean and hygienic.
Pikitup does this by collecting household refuse once a week from every formal dwelling in Johannesburg. It also offers commercial services to some 17 000 businesses and provides a waste removal service to all informal settlements in the city.
