General Conditions

​​​The first R350 0000 of all residential property values is exempt from rating; Properties valued at less than R350 000 don’t have rates levied against them.

2016/17 Property Rates

2016/2017 property rates tariffs will be effective from 1 July 2016. Kindly note that property rates tariffs have increased by 5 percent across all categories of properties. The council may levy different rates for different categories of rateable properties. All rateable property will be classified in a category and will be rates based on the zoning, or permitted use of the property, unless otherwise stated in the Policy.

Property Rates Ratios

Ratio means the relationship between the cent amount in the Rand applicable to residential properties and non-residential properties. Residential property included in a valuation and non-residential properties.  Residential property means a property included in a valuation roll (as residential) in respect of which the primary use or permitted use is for residential purposes.​
