Joburg Ladies Open, which is less than a week away, promises to be an exciting tournament with top players from around the globe competing for a share of the €300 000 (R5.8 million) prize purse.
The City of Johannesburg is proud to host this international ladies golf tournament at Modderfontein Golf Club from Thursday, 3 April, to Sunday, 6 April 2025. Residents and golf enthusiasts are urged to watch the tournament live over the four days.
Modderfontein Golf Course has a consistent rating in the top 60 of South African golf courses. It offers 18 holes and is a par-72 course. It comes with its own challenges. The layout is in a parkland setting and has firm greens with tree-lined fairways and a sizeable number of ponds.
One of the highlights of the golf tournament, which is co-sanctioned by the Sunshine Ladies Tour and the European Tour, is the opportunity for spectators to experience the action live from the lush lawns of the Modderfontein Golf Club, which will be hosting the tournament for the third time in a row.

Itumeleng Mankge, Deputy Director: Events Compliance in the City of Johannesburg and Tournament Promoter, encourages residents and golf enthusiasts to support the tournament.
“This prestigious four-day tournament not only highlights the incredible talent of female golfers but also showcases the beauty and hospitality of our City. It’s an opportunity to come together as a City, cheer on world-class professional golfers, and celebrate the spirit of the sport. Let’s fill the stands and show the world that Johannesburg is a City that supports excellence on and off the course.”
Metro police will be working closely with security to manage all traffic and pedestrian movements in the vicinity during the tournament.
