Pikitup, the City of Johannesburg’s waste management company, will operate as usual during the Easter public holidays. Residents whose waste is scheduled for collection on Friday, 18 April 2025 (Good Friday) and Monday, 21 April 2025 (Family Day) are advised to place their bins outside their properties as normal for collection.
Pikitup’s multi-purpose waste management facilities will also remain open to help prevent illegal dumping. Residents with excess waste are encouraged to use these facilities rather than dump waste unlawfully. Locations of these facilities can be found at www.pikitup.co.za.
Residents are reminded that illegal dumping is a by-law offence and is punishable by law. It is every resident’s civic responsibility to report offenders. Reports can be made to the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) via WhatsApp at 082 779 1361. To report illegal dumping, residents should provide:
- A clear photo of the offender or vehicle (with the licence plate visible)
- The time and date of the incident
In addition to waste collection, street cleaning services will continue across all Pikitup depots during the Easter holiday period.
