​New board to push JDA to greater heights

A new board has been appointed for the Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA).

Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Development Planning in the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Belinda Echeozonjoku, described the new board appointments as a Golden Start.

“The City of Johannesburg entities now have the right skill set to take the JDA from strength to strength. Indeed, a golden start,” said MMC Cllr Echeozonjoku.

“With this leadership we are confident that the JDA is on the right path to position themselves to become the implementation agent of choice for local, provincial and national government,” said MMC Echeozonjoku.

The appointments were announced at the annual general meeting (AGM) of the City of Johannesburg on Tuesday, 15 February 2022 during which all City of Johannesburg entities presented their directors, social and ethics committees reports, the annual financial statements and the audit committee reports for the year ended 30 June 2021.

 

Lionel Brenner was appointed the chairperson of the JDA board. The JDA welcomes, the following non-executive directors appointed in the same meeting:

• Advocate Neo Ntingane

• Lionel Brenner

• Success Marota

• Anchen Dreyer

• Mthobisi Malinga

• Wellington Thwala

• Mukhosi Phathutshedzo

• Christopher Whittle

“We are excited to work with the new board in our vision to build a more welcoming, competitive and resilient Johannesburg that is a better city to live in, to work and play in,” said Acting Chief Executive Officer Sherylee Moonsamy.

“The JDA has undertaken over 1 000 projects throughout Johannesburg since its inception, and the capital expenditure for the period ending on 30 June 2020 was R1.2 billion.”
