Meet the team that gives Joburg its Pulse

If you’ve been wondering who are the voices behind the City’s digital radio station – Joburg Pulse Radio – wonder no more.

There are six voices behind Joburg Pulse Radio, including “The Gents”, whose job is to keep us informed, entertained and educated. This is the diverse and exciting team that heads up broadcast operations on the 11th floor at the Metro Centre.

Lwando Mbelu is the prime host of the #RiseUpEgoli breakfast show from 10am to 12pm and the #GoodAfternoonJozi afternoon drive from 2pm until 4pm.

“I love that we live in a City with a diverse range of people, with so many things to do and see. This ensures we always have content for the station. I am a foodie. In my spare time, I enjoy tasting and trying different foods. It’s a miracle if I cook at least twice a month,” says Lwando, otherwise known as “Mr Motormouth” for his non-stop talking and laughter.

Gugu Zwane is a social media expert, co-host, and team coordinator. “I am the team’s newest member and co-host of the #GoodAfternoonJozi show. I am known as GeeZy and have discovered that I enjoy presenting on the station.

“I am responsible for our social media presence @CityofJoburgZA. I coordinate the radio team and assist with content creation. I enjoy hanging out with my family and being social in my free time,” says GeeZy, who is also an accomplished singer & rapper.

Chandre Kennel is a multi-media designer and co-host of the #RiseUpEgoli show. “I am responsible for a few segments on the show which include topical issues, explore Joburg and the weather, among others. I also enjoy chilling at home with loved ones but don’t mistake me for being a boring homebody. I can get crazy but in the comfort of my home. Another secret addiction I have is binge-watching my favourite series on TV.”

Mpumelelo Mchunu is one of “The Gents”, co-host and technical producer on Joburg Pulse. “I am a co-host on the #GoodAfternoonJozi show, known as the weather guy. We also have a segment that focuses on topics related to ‘Gents’ to share our opinions. I hate being broke, so in my spare time I find ways to make money. I also enjoy movies.”

Oscar Muvhango is a co-host and part of ‘The Gents’. “I am the sports presenter for both our radio shows. I am family orientated and can be regarded as the glue that holds the team. I love sport. I enjoy watching and playing football.”

Sbonelo Shabangu is the third member of ‘The Gents’ and a co-host on both shows on Pulse. “I am your guy for traffic updates. Since doing radio, my passion and interests have changed. I look forward to developing a career in radio presenting.”

Feel free to drop by and chew the fat with the host with the most, Mr Motormouth himself and his crazy crew.
