Kleena Joburg campaign returns to Region F

The City of Joburg Region F has once again embarked on two-week long Kleena Joburg reloaded campaign, which focuses  on clearing illegal dumping, collecting waste, cleaning streets, sidewalks, fixing water leakages, repairing road surfaces, unblocking drainage systems, cutting grass, fixing streetlights, removing illegal connections and enforcing adherence to the by-laws as part of accelerating service delivery in different communities.

The multi-departmental operation is aimed at transforming the City into a clean and safe environment for residents and address challenges of illegality and lawlessness in all regions.
The campaign is a progressive approach to eradicate challenges in the regions and to curb factors that contribute towards unfavourable living conditions for residents.

During the first week, the operation is planning to focus on Sophia, Gantner, Peer, Rosina, Bellavista streets including Kliprivier roads in Turffontein.

A number of City departments were out in full force including City Power, Pikitup, JMPD, EMS, Joburg Water, Environment and Infrastructure Services, Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo, to mentions just a few.

Some businesses were found to have illegal electricity connections which were disconnected on the spot and law enforcement officials conducted stop and search of vehicles and impounding some unroadworthy vehicles.

Region F Acting Regional Director, Roger Ganhes, said: “I’m pleased that most departments are here to ensure that service delivery is accelerated. Ward 55 is one of the areas that has been identified with major service delivery failures and this programme assists in ensuring that all departments do their part and our objectives are achieved.”

“It is indeed encouraging when there is a collective undertaking that heeds the call to accelerate service delivery and improve living conditions of our communities,” concluded Ganhes.

Areas that will be cleaned during this campaign include Ward 55, Turffontein and surrounding areas and Ward 118, Malvern and surrounding areas. The campaign, which form part of the municipality’s strategy to revive and attract business back into the inner city, started on Monday, 15 February 2021, and will run until Friday, 26 February 2021.
