This prestigious event honoured the outstanding achievements of athletes, coaches, and officials who have made significant contributions to the sport of athletics.

A highlight of the evening was the recognition of Akani Simbine, the 31-year-old international athlete hailing from Kempton Park. The City of Johannesburg remains dedicated to fostering a thriving athletics community.

By investing in youth development programs, annual championships, and high-performance athlete support initiatives, the city aims to produce future generations of world-class athletes.

The 2024 CGA Awards serve as a testament to the City of Johannesburg’s commitment to sports development and its role in shaping the future of South Africa.

The Executive Director for Community Development in the City of Johannesburg, Siyanda Mnukwa, said: “We are behind CGA and Athletics South Africa, more especially women athletes.
