The Joburg Theatre proudly announces the Legends Tribute Concert dedicated to the iconic Dr Victor Khojane at Don Mateman Hall in Eldorado Park on Sunday, 17 March 2024, at 3pm. Organised at the request of the Member of the Mayoral Committee for Community Development, Cllr Lubabalo Magwentshu, the concert aims to celebrate the remarkable influence Dr Victor has had on the South African music scene.
Featuring some of his greatest hits such as “Give Me Hope Jo’Anna”, “I Don’t Want To Dance”, and many others, the event promises an afternoon filled with joyous, celebratory music as fans and music lovers come together to honour the legendary Dr Victor.
“Our tribute to Dr Victor is long overdue. We want to express our gratitude for bringing us joy through his memorable and catchy songs with the Rebels, which kept us on our feet and dancing with joy. He is a true music legend, and we want the world to never forget that. Hits like “Tsoang Tsoang” were wedding songs everyone sang. How can we not celebrate?” said Cllr Magwentshu.
For over four decades, Dr Victor has been a resolute musical genius, leaving a mark on South African and global music history. He was influenced by legends like Blondie & Papa and the Jackson Five, and eventually signed with CSR Label in 1991. His talents shone brightly with The Rasta Rebels, captivating audiences worldwide with his unforgettable hits.
Xoliswa Nduneni-Ngema, the CEO of Joburg City Theatres, said they are thrilled to be organising this iconic tribute and extended an invitation to the community.
“At Joburg Theatres, we believe in the power of music to bring people together and create lasting memories. The Tribute to Dr Victor is a sincere gesture to pay homage to a musician who has touched the hearts of many,” said Nduneni-Ngema.
The concert will offer attendees an opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich history of South African musical legends. It is open to all, with free entrance, and doors open from 11am.
