Women’s Month is a reminder of the resilience and impact of women across South Africa. Joburg Market has been celebrating the women who keep the organisation moving — from those ensuring smooth operations at dawn to those making strategic decisions in boardrooms.
As a certified Top Employer, Joburg Market knows that empowering women is more than equity; it’s about building stronger communities and driving sustainable growth. The Market has made great strides in developing women leaders. Through internal support and SETA partnerships, 58 women have been upskilled. Success stories include two graduates from the WRSETA programme, one now in senior management and another executive pursuing the International Leadership Development Programme at UCT. A manager is also enrolled in a UCT leadership programme, while nine women in managerial roles, including an executive, have benefited from HR-led development initiatives.
These achievements show the Market’s commitment to equipping women with the confidence and skills to lead. But Women’s Month is not only about statistics — it is about recognising everyday contributions. It is about the women who ensure compliance, finance, HR, and administration run seamlessly, who mentor colleagues with dedication, and who balance professional excellence with family and community responsibilities.
“As we celebrate Women’s Month, we acknowledge not only those who have advanced into leadership but every woman who contributes daily to the growth of Joburg Market,” says Acting Skills Development Facilitator, Mohau Takadimane.
This Women’s Month, Joburg Market salutes the women whose leadership, dedication and resilience uplift our organisation. When women rise, communities rise — and empowerment becomes the most powerful tool for change.
