The City of Johannesburg’s Sport and Recreation Department brought energy and excitement to Marks Park Sports Club in Emmarentia at the weekend for its annual CyaZeeVocaVoca Healthy Lifestyle Programme.
This premier event drew participants from all seven regions of the City, uniting children, seniors, and adults in a day dedicated to active living, fitness, and mental wellbeing.
The initiative reinforces the city’s vision of fostering a healthier, more inclusive future—where residents enjoy longer, happier lives with equal opportunities to thrive. Attendees enjoyed a dynamic lineup of activities, including:
- Chair aerobics (for people with disabilities)
- Kids’ aerobics (early childhood development)
- Fun aerobics (primary school pupils)
- Cardio Grid (teens)
- Arts & Yoga
- Bootcamp sessions
- Ball-kicking drills
- Leadership & Community Commitment
MMC for Community Development Cllr Tebogo Nkokou welcomed participants and sponsors, emphasising the programme’s role in promoting lifelong wellness: “It’s an honour to stand with Johannesburg’s residents in championing a healthier lifestyle for all ages and abilities. This initiative empowers people with disabilities, instils healthy habits in children, and cultivates future sports stars. Let’s continue being ambassadors for wellbeing in our homes and communities.”
Lefa Sebolai (23), a participant from Bona Lesedi School for the Disabled in Midrand, shared: “I’m thrilled I attended! Beyond exercise, I learned about discipline, communication, and focus—it’s been incredible.”
