Don’t Miss Joburg Open This Week

The 17th edition of the Joburg Open is hours away and promise to be a spectacular tournament where world-class golfers will vie for the champion title.

If you’re an avid golfer, supporter or newbie, don’t miss out on the opportunity to experience the action live this week from the Houghton Golf Course from Thursday, 6 March, to Sunday, 9 March 2025. The Joburg Open is co-sanctioned by the Sunshine Tour and DP World Tour and attracts top golfers from across the globe.

The ensure all systems flow seamlessly, the organising team had been working around the clock.

Here are a few things spectators need to know if they’re planning on watching the tournament at the Houghton Golf Club.

Park and ride service: No parking is available at the Houghton Golf Club and all spectators driving will be required to park at the Norwood Mall. A shuttle will transport spectators from Norwood Mall, at the Burger Kind entrance, starting as early as 07:00 from Thursday to Sunday. The service will run in 30-minute intervals. From 16:00 transport will return spectators back.

Drop-off: Spectators who uber to the venue should use the drop-off entrance at Houghton Golf Club, 2nd Avenue gate.

All City of Johannesburg Joint Operations Committee (JOC) requirements and expectations have been met. The South African Police Service, Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD), and other essential services personnel will officiate the event throughout the four days.

City of Johannesburg Spokesperson, Nthatisi Modingoane, urges residents to come out in numbers to support the event. “The City worked in unity to make this tournament possible, and we urge residents to support this world-class tournament hosted in our City.”

“Readiness is key to hosting successful events, and we’ve worked tirelessly to ensure we’re prepared. But come see for yourself what the tournament has to offer,” says Mondingoane.

The excitement kicked off with the Pro-AM on Tuesday, 4 March 2025, where amateurs had a once in a lifetime opportunity to play alongside professionals.
