City’s Thabile Mabele announced as Mrs Township SA finalist

Thabile Mabele, an Employment Equity and Diversity Management Consultant at the City of Johannesburg (CoJ), is in the running for the Mrs Township South Africa (MTSA) title after being announced as a finalist on Saturday, 6 December 2025.

Mabele pursued her pageant passion earlier this year and, at the age of 48, is reclaiming a childhood dream. This time, she does so with confidence, taking a bold step to celebrate her womanhood and personal growth.

She describes being named a finalist as a defining moment in her journey.

“When they called out my name, I was filled with gratitude and emotion. It felt like everything I have been working towards — my community work and personal growth — finally came together. In that moment, I kept thinking, ‘Wow, this is really happening. This is my moment.’ It was both humbling and empowering,” she says.

Mabele’s husband was in the audience, offering his support on the day.

“Seeing my husband there meant so much to me and made the moment even more meaningful. His love and support kept me calm and confident,” she adds.

“This platform allows me to advocate, empower and inspire intentionally. It reminds me that purpose has power, and when a woman steps into her calling, entire communities feel the impact. It also reinforces that dreams are valid, no matter where you come from, and calls me to serve even more boldly,” she says.

With the grand finale set for 2026, Mabele is focused on setting herself apart by staying true to who she is and maintaining a strong focus on community impact and consistency.

“I want my actions to speak louder than words through my advocacy and charity work. While pageantry celebrates beauty and poise, true distinction comes from the heart — how you lead, how you serve, and how you leave people feeling,” she says.

Mabele continues to drive her charity initiatives, including food drives, youth and township women empowerment programmes, as well as advocacy for safer spaces and anti-harassment initiatives.

In closing, she says: “I am really grateful for this opportunity and for the trust placed in me as a finalist and I am excited for this opportunity. I look forward to walking this journey with my fellow finalists, and everyone who believes in the beauty of township excellence.”
