Buthelezi brings Farmers’ Market to the people

On the list of fun things to do to get your festive season going should be the first Soweto Farmers’ Market taking place this weekend on Sunday, 27 November 2022, in Protea Glen at the Soweto Barnyard. The market is said to be the first of its kind for the township and is suitable for the whole family.

Visitors can expect stalls for quick but exciting shopping experience and then kick back and relax, ending off the day with a picnic with loved ones.

Owner of the Soweto Farmers’ Market Lindo Buthelezi says the day will bring a multitude of experiences for all visitors.

From deliciously prepared market food to funky drinks and good music with a promising entertainment line-up.

“The objective of the market is to introduce a different cultural experience within the township.

We’ll do this whilst creating and promoting local businesses and job opportunities,” says Buthelezi.

The market opens its doors at 11:00am until 17:00pm. Tickets will be sold at the gates at R10. Pensioners and children under the age of five get in for free.

“There is a plethora of wonderful food and lifestyle in Soweto, but we have never had a market of this scale in Protea Glen. The Farmers’ Market is a first for our township. We hope that the communities will come and support our vendors from across Gauteng,” says Buthelezi.

Don’t miss out on an opportunity to enjoy good vibes in good company and bring along your camping chairs. There is nothing lekker than supporting our locals.
