The quality of service delivery in Ivory Park will get much-deserved improvement when the City rolls out bulk infrastructure there in the next three financial years.
A lion’s share of the money allocated to Ivory Park from June 2021 will go towards constructing tarred roads, stormwater drains and increasing water distribution networks as well as reliable electrical connections.

Speaker of Council, Cllr Nonceba Molwele says the City will partner with the community of Ivory Park on these development projects to enhance the quality of life in the area.
One resident comments: “We are very happy to hear such great news from the City and we look forward to seeing the change we need.”
Cllr Molwele led the second day of operations in Region A (Ivory Park) on Wednesday, 14 April, in what the City has dubbed 120 Days of Accelerated Service Delivery, a mayoral initiative to speed-up the delivery of basic services throughout the City.
The multidisciplinary approach to effective service delivery focuses on the needs of communities rather than what’s been prescribed. It also focuses a basket of all municipal service improvements in one area over a sustained period, to enhance its liveability.
In the next four months, the mayor and his team of executives as well as senior municipal administrators will travel to all seven Regions of the City to bridge service delivery backlogs.
Cllr Molwele was joined by Members of the Mayoral Committee (MMCs), who rolled-up their sleeves patching potholes, picking up litter and interacting with members of the community.
Residents had previously complained about the poor quality of roads in the area and the general slow pace of service delivery. The community says it needs tarred roads so that ambulances and refuse removal vans can access all households. The lack of tarred roads had led to illegal dumping, which disturbs general mobility in the area.
Some of these issues had been raised with the ward councillor through Integrated Development Plan (IDP) consultations. Cllr Molwele committed the City to resolving all service delivery issues in Region A.
In another part of Ivory Park, the Executive Mayor, Cllr Geoff Makhubo, joined discussions on social issues such as gender-based violence and the creation of economic opportunities for women.
