Aluta Anova Festival of Museums, which is aimed at promoting and encouraging a museum-going culture among the youth, will take place on 03 June 2023 between 12:00 and 22:00 at James Hall Museum of Transport on Rosettenville Road in Glenesk, Johannesburg. The festival has diverse range of entertainment, from music lineup, museum walkabouts, thrilling tours on the historic 1952 London bus and art activities to an array of local food to celebrate the rich history and heritage of the City of Johannesburg.
Aluta Nova Festival has become a high caliber festival in Johannesburg. The line-up will include emerging live bands and DJs – Muzi, Lelowhatsgood, Deniece Marz, Rosie Parade, Hammathedude, Painted Flowers and BLKJKS.
Gaitsang Sathekge, the Museum Curator at James Hall Museum, says the line-up has been curated to include young talent in the music industry to commentate youth month and act as a voice to encourage youth to visit museums and places of history more.
“We are thrilled to bring back the festival at this time of the year as it coincides with youth month and also use the opportunity to foster greater appreciation of museums and the role they play amongst young people,” says Sathekge.
“The festival will bring the museum space to life through music, making learning more accessible and dynamic for young people.”
Joburg Tourism’s Laura Vercueil says the festival is an important addition to the City’s lifestyle, heritage, and cultural landscape.
She says the City is proud of the many significant roles it has played in our country’s history and some of our award-winning and globally acclaimed museums and heritage attractions.
The James Hall Museum of Transport is known to be one of the largest and most comprehensive museum of land transport in South Africa providing historic wanderlusts with a rare glimpse of Johannesburg’s transport history of fabulous vintage and classic cars.
