Since all Covid-19 public health restrictions have been lifted, spectators can finally return to the Houghton Golf Club to watch professional golfers live in action during the Joburg Open International Golf Tournament. It doesn’t get any better than this.
To guarantee spectators a successful tournament, the organising team has been working around the clock to ensure all systems flow seamlessly.
Here are a few things golf enthusiasts should be aware of when attending the tournament.
- Park and ride: There is no parking available at the Houghton Golf Club, and all spectators driving will be required to park at Norwood Mall. Metro busses will be shuttling spectators from Norwood Mall, Burger King entrance, starting as early as 7am from Thursday to Sunday. The bus service will run in 30-minute intervals. The bus will begin transporting spectators from the Houghton Golf Club on 2nd Avenue back to Norwood Mall at 4 p.m.
- Drop-off: Spectators who Uber to the venue should use the drop-off entrance at Houghton Golf Club, 2nd Avenue gate.
- Livestream: For those missing out on experiencing the action from the golf course, you cxan livestream the event on SuperSport channel 213 on Thursday and Friday from 12pm to 5pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 4:30pm.
- No road closures are planned, but the metro police will be working closely with the golf club security to manage all traffic and pedestrian movements in the vicinity during the tournament.
- All City of Johannesburg Joint Operations Committee (JOC) requirements and expectations have been met. The South African Police Service, the Joburg Metro Police Department, and other essential service personnel will officiate the event throughout the four days.
Those interested in obtaining complimentary tickets should keep an eye on the City’s social media platforms. Two double VIP tickets for Friday are still up for grabs, as is one set of double tickets for the tournament on Saturday and Sunday.
There are 10 double sets of general access tickets available for the tournament on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The Joburg Open is co-sanctioned by the Sunshine Tour and the DP World Tour and will be played at the Houghton Golf Club over four days from Thursday, 24 November, to Sunday, 27 November.
