Sponsors show love for Ladies Open participants

Gratitude restaurant was packed to capacity as players, guests and sponsors gathered at Flamingo Shopping Centre for the Joburg Ladies Open sponsors’ gala dinner on Monday, 15 April 2024. Nine years down the lline, Joburg Ladies Open rolls out the red carpet for the historic gala dinner welcoming 120 international golfers, guests and sponsors to golf tournament scheduled to tee-off on Thursday, 18 April 2024, at Modderfontein Golf Club, east of Johannesburg. Speaking at the gala dinner, the Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Kabelo Gwamanda, thanked the sponsors for always digging in their pockets to support the Joburg Ladies Open and elevating the tournament to what it is now, reaching three-year mark milestone of being co-sanctioned by the Sunshine Ladies Tour and European Ladies Tour. “We are very proud to host this world-class event in the world-class city with world-class facilities. These events help the City to attract investment as players that play in the tournament become our ambassadors to the world and share the experience lived in our beautiful City.:

He added that the Joburg Ladies Open will showcase the City’s world-class infrastructure to millions of TV viewers worldwide. 

He urged Joburg residents and spectators alike to come in numbers to watch the free entry tournament and support the “Birdies for Dignity” campaign themed around restoring the dignity of a girl child by donating sanitary packs.

Mayor Gwamanda wished the players well and said: “May the best player win on Sunday the final day of the tournament.”

Itumeleng Mankge, the Deputy Director for Events Logistics who was programme director for the event, welcomed the guest and thanked the sponsors, mentioning just a few, Sunshine Ladies Tour, Ladies European Tour, Stoneridge Shopping Centre, Renault, First Car Rental, Lavazza, World of Golf, and many more.

“We really appreciate what you have done, and we always look forward to this event as its one of the most important events on our calendar. It has been a great partnership with the current sponsors, and we also welcome on board the new sponsors and looking forward to working with you to continue developing the sport in our country,” added Mankge.

Petunia Tsotetsi from Stoneridge Shopping Centre, speaking on behalf of the sponsors, expresses enthusiasm for the partnership, aiming for fruitful results and elevated growth of the tournament.
