Public Safety MMC Cllr Mgcini Tshwaku alongside senior leadership of Public Safety and JMPD successfully launched the Licensing Truck at the community of Tshepisong in Region C, west of Johannesburg yesterday, 26 March 2024. The launch forms part of the ongoing Easter Road Safety campaign that aims to encourage motorists to renew vehicle licence discs before travelling and to also pay traffic fines to stay on the right side of the law and avoid further penalties. The MMC assured the community that JMPD officers will increase visibility in Tshepisong to tackle high crime.
He also encouraged the residents to use of the services of the truck so that they do not have to travel long distances to receive services.
“We have heard your cries about the lack of police visibility to deal with the high rate of crime. We will work closely with SAPS and ensure we deal with this scourge of crime and violence decisively. TRU (Tactical Response Unit) will be deployed to conduct operations and roadblocks will also be conducted daily leading up to the Easter weekend and beyond. Please renew your vehicle licences and pay your traffic fines,” said the MMC Tshwaku.
Other services offered by the truck include the booking and writing of learners’ licences and renewal of drivers’ licences.
The truck will move from community to community in Johannesburg offering these services to residents in a convenient manner.
