Get your hands on complimentary spectator tickets to the Joburg Ladies Open International Golf Tournament. The tickets will enable spectators to watch the golfing action unfold live from the lush lawns of the Modderfontein Golf Club, east of Johannesburg. The four-day tournament – co-sanctioned by the Sunshine Ladies Tour and the European Tour – began on Wednesday, 1 March and will conclude on Saturday, 4 March 2023 with the crowning of a new champion. The free tickets, however, are only available to the first 2 000 people.
Bongi Mokaba, the City’s Director of Event Management says excitement is building up for the final round on Saturday and it’s good to see spectators walking around on the golf course to support their favourite golfers.
“Remember to register on the Sunshine Tour website to get your free tickets,” enthuses Mokaba.
There are a few things spectators need to know before they prepare for the golf tournament.
Firstly, due to limited parking space at the Modderfontein Golf Club, all spectators driving should use the park and ride service at the Stoneridge Shopping Centre, 1 Hereford and Modderfontein Road.
Secondly, metro buses will be shuttling spectators from as early as 6:30am on Wednesday, 1 March to Saturday, 4 March 2023. From 4pm, spectators will be transported back to the shopping centre by bus at 30-minute intervals.
Thirdly, all spectators who use Uber services to get to the venue should use the drop-off entrance gate on Pressburg Road, which is along hole number 13.
Mokaba says nothing comes close to walking alongside professional golfers and watching them live in action.
“But for those who can’t make it to the Modderfontein fairways, they can live-stream or watch the tournament live on SuperSport channel 213 on Friday and Saturday from 11am to 4pm.”
She says no road closures are planned yet, however, the metro police will be working closely with the tournament security to manage traffic and pedestrian movements in the vicinity of the golf club during the tournament.
