Get ready for a spectacular Owloween at Joburg Zoo

Get ready for an enchanted Owloween night at the Johannesburg Zoo. The much-anticipated Owloween night, hosted by Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo, is around the corner and promises to be an edition like no other. Make your way to Johannesburg Zoo in Jan Smuts Avenue on Saturday 28 October 2023 for a spooky spectacular night under the stars. As an added surprise, since the date coincides with the Rugby World Cup final, the match will be televised live at the zoo to support the Springboks in true South African spirit. For one night only the Joburg Zoo will be transformed into a ghastly ghost land. Be prepared to be tricked and treated, spooked and scared.

Leesel van Louw, Joburg City Parks and Zoo Facility Booking Officer, says this year’s edition brings the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland with actors transforming the lawn into a magical wonderland.

She says the team went all out with the décor to give visitors the chills and accentuate the experience.

From a witch cove, haunted house, ferry land and Casper and the friendly ghost section, there spooky stuff galore for patrons.

Don’t forget to bring a trick-or-treat- basket to collect candy.

If you get hungry or thirsty, grab something from the Zoo’s restaurant or the vendors on site who will be serving delicious treats and meals.

The event starts at 17:00 and ends at 21:00. Tickets will be sold on the night at the Zoo at R150 for adults and R80 for kids. At 21:00 the rugby match will be live streamed.
