The City of Johannesburg is proud to host the 4th edition of the SPAR International Netball Test Series. The Spar Proteas will kickstart 2026 with a three-test match netball series against England’s Vitality Roses at the Ellis Park Indoor Arena. The three-match series in Joburg is preparation for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow later this year. The last time South Africa faced England at home was in 2023 during the Netball World Cup in Cape Town.
The City of Johannesburg is the proud host of this international series, which positions the City as a venue of choice for sporting events. The netball series also highlights women’s sports. The City of Joburg’s Department of Community Development plays a key role in supporting women’s sport and ensuring that girl children participate in sports.
“We welcome our international guests with open arms and will provide them with a warm Joburg hospitality. We will continue to support sports development in the City by providing world-class facilities,” said Cllr Thapelo Amad, the Member of the Mayoral Committee for Community Development in the City of Johannesburg.
South Africa and England, ranked fifth and fourth in the world respectively, will square off at Ellis Park on Thursday, 29 January, Saturday, 31 January and Sunday, 1 February 2026.
