Region A aerobics session gets hearts pumping for summer

The City of Johannesburg’s Sport and Recreation in Region A showed the community this past Saturday that small steps and adding few changes in your daily routine may help you achieve a healthier lifestyle.

“Region A’s Healthy Lifestyle programme continues to be a resounding hit, and all kudos to the Sport and Recreation team for always executing it in such a comprehensive and well-coordinated approach,” said Project Manager Enock Mosiea.

“This programme is suitable for people of all shapes, sizes and fitness levels. Even the most inexperienced of novices always have a great time. The aerobics classes are 100% equipment-free, so it’s just you and your besties getting to dance, stretch, move and groove while burning calories,” he added.

The lively session, organised in collaboration with local aerobics clubs, was open to people of all ages and ran from 7am to 9am. Residents enjoyed the calorie-burning session, which began as the sun shone brilliantly, with birds chirping happily away.

Aerobics can help people build stronger bones, sleep better and potentially live longer lives in addition to improving cardiovascular health and performance. It is one of the most effective ways to live a longer and healthier life, health experts have found.

“Residents should try out the sessions. It’s well worth it since there is immense power in a group workout, and fitness is founded on community.”

“Yes, it requires consistency and discipline, but working out as a group holds you accountable and makes it enjoyable,” said Mervis “Coach Mava” Mkhize, the founder of Trimax Fitness Club.
