Bryanston Library a home away from home for eager readers

When entering the children section of the Bryanston Library, you will be welcomed by a beautifully decorated festive season exhibition. It’s a reminder that the festive season is around the corner. The Bryanston Library was built in 1973 and it is still a remarkable place that houses centuries of learning and information resources. It is not just a building where you can go and borrow books for a certain period of time.

The other wonderful thing happening at the library is story reading. A book that caught the attention of Laura Pillay, a senior library assistant, is the Christmas Bear by Anne Mangan and Joanne Moss.

It will be one of the books that will be read to children to convey the festive season message of love and caring during a puppet show on December 7 at the library.

The other wonderful thing was observing children, parents and senior citizens walk in and out of the library confirming that libraries are a hub of diverse knowledge, which bring together a diverse community.

One of the things that makes this library and country great.

Young Mulo Mayikiso has been using the Bryanston Library for years.

“When I was in Grade 4, my mom brought me to this library. She actually forced me to read and insisted that I take a book out. Since then, I have been coming here every day after school.”

“I love it here because this is a quiet place. I am able to read lot of different books and do my schoolwork. The staff is amazing. Considering that I went through my primary school years and still coming here. I can say this is my home and staff are my family. The library aligns well with me.”

Visit the Bryanston Library, Payne Street, Bryanston to enjoy the quietness, books and puzzles for free.
