The City of Joburg Region F is continuing with the Kleena Joburg campaign this week with special focus on Ward 118, Malvern, which is an area with several service delivery challenges.
The multi-departmental operation is aimed at transforming the City into a cleaner and safer place for residents and business, and to address challenges of illegality and lawlessness in all regions.
Joburg Roads Agency, City Power, Pikitup, Joburg Metropolitan Police Department, Joburg City Parks and Zoo, Joburg Water and more are also focused on illegal panelbeaters and mechanics, illegal street trading, illegal electricity connections and water connections, illegal building and alterations, overcrowding, spaza shops, and by-law enforcement such as impounding illegally parked cars.
The campaign is a progressive approach to eradicate challenges in the regions and to curb factors that contribute towards unfavourable living conditions for residents.
This week, the operation is targeting Persimmon, Thirsty Seventh, Hospital and Twenty Fourth streets in Malvern.
Six premises were issued with notices to remove building rubble and building material on the sidewalks, illegal electricity connections were disconnected in some properties and businesses, illegal water connections were disconnected, by law management unit impounded cars illegal parked and Region F Acting Regional Director, Roger Ganhes, said: “It is important to identity and prioritise local needs and allocate the necessary service delivery interventions required for each area.
“As a municipality, we cannot do this alone, that is why we are always conducting education and awareness programmes in communities to try and get the public to do their part in cleaning the places they reside in.”
