​Cheerio to all lockdown retirees

The following employees retired during the lockdown after over 30 years of service to the City.

They are now free to do anything with their time and pension money. They deserve it after all these years of service to the municipality.

Orange Farm Fire Station Commander A. Kok retired after 37 years of service; Randburg Fire Station Firefighter M.A Kgaswe retired after 39 years of service; Malvern Fire Station Firefighter J.J Barker left the City after 30 years of service; Orange Farm Fire Station Firefighter E.Z Gumede retired after 14 years of service; Alexandra BESAFE Centre Officer E.E Mashile retired after 37 years of service and W. Schoeman, the Operational Manager for Corporate Services, left the City after 33 years in service.

Shirley Maphosa retired after 33 years with the City. She was a Manager for Clinics in Region B. Khoele William Kgasago also retired during the lockdown. Livhuwani Matshaya retired in August; Steven Base took out his pension in November; Kodibona Mampuru left in November; Albert Moloto retired in November and Ngwenyama Enos left the City in November 2020.

John Joseph Barker, Mpotokwe Amos Kgaswe, Wolette Schoeman, Ephraim Zibuse Gumede, Livhuwani Eric Matshaya, Lulamile Harmless Jwara, Richard Mbhazima Makhuvele, Matome Elias Moila, Washington Maguda Nkisimane, Godisamang Evelyn Sito and Thandiwe Eunice Mdudi retired from the JMPD in December.

“Your departure marks the end of an era for the City of Joburg. The City appreciates you, and will do so even more when we try to fill the void you’ve left. You have been a mentor and friend to many of us throughout your 30 years plus here and have in turn, given the City a leading edge, which is the kind of record any municipality admires. Thank you and cheerio,” says Cllr Loyiso Masuku, the MMC for GCSS.
