The Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA) has appointed Mr Mokgema Mongane as its CEO. Mongane joins the City of Johannesburg’s implementing agent for five years, effective from 5 August 2022. The JDA board conducted interviews accessing external and internal candidates for this role.
Mongane was found to be a decisive, focused professional and brings his industry experience and excellent strategic and leadership skills to the JDA.
Mongane holds a master’s in business administration from Regenesys, a master’s in engineering management from the University of Pretoria and a Bachelor of Science honours in civil engineering from Wits University.
Before joining the JDA, Mongane was the general manager of Capital Development & Assurance at Transnet State Owned Company (SOC) and a Chief Operations Officer at the Council for the Built Environment.
“With this appointment, we are confident that the JDA is on the right path to fulfilling its mission of planning, implementing, managing, and facilitating area-based developments in efficient, equitable, sustainable, and innovative ways,” said chairman of the JDA board Lionel Brenner.
The JDA plays a role in the implementation of the Growth and Development Strategy of the City of Johannesburg. The JDA manages and facilitates developments efficiently to build an equitable, sustainable, and resilient city. The JDA strategically facilitate area-based improvements in line with the City development vision and objectives.
“Every one of us has an important role to play in working ahead, and I’m confident that Mongane, we will achieve great things,” he added.
