Region B and Joburg Roads Agency partnered in a five-day A Re Sebetseng blitz, which started on 28 February and ends on 4 March 2022.
A Re Sebetseng, which means “let’s work”, is an initiative implemented to inspire residents to take care of their environment by keeping it clean. The City has used A Re Sebetseng blitzes to tackle service delivery issues within all the seven regions.
Region B has been attending to a several service delivery issues with JRA, which included painting road marks, reinstatement of potholes, deep patching, replacement of guardrails and cleaning of storm water pipes.
The Member of the Mayoral Committee for Transport in the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Funzela Ngobeni, stressed about the importance of the campaign. “The aim of the initiative is to deal with service delivery backlogs across the City and to bring depots of the City in one region to assist.”
Several entities and departments joined the blitz. City Power fixed several street lights and attended to cases of illegal connections, grass cutting that needed attention was prioritised by Johannesburg City Parks & Zoo. Johannesburg Water focused on water leakages in various wards within the region while Pikitup cleared illegal dumping sites.
Service delivery issues were attended to in Bryanston, Emmarentia, Melville, Riverlea and Westbury to name a few. The region is committed to continuously address service delivery challenges to improve the lives of residents.
