Rebates
A municipality is allowed by the Municipal Property Rates Act No6 of 2004 (MPRA) as amended to provide exemptions or rebates to pensioners or individuals who, based on their conditions and circumstances, are unable to pay for their municipal property rates.
As a caring City we want to alleviate the financial burden of the community we serve and therefore have created a basket of rebates for qualifying residents and interested parties targeting vulnerable households.
The City of Johannesburg provides several rebates and benefits to senior citizens and vulnerable groups through its Expanded Social Package (ESP) programme.
