City of Johannesburg Honours the Strength and Resilience of Women

As we usher in the month of August in the City of Johannesburg, women are top of the agenda for special attention in recognition of their contributions in the struggle for socio-economic freedom in the metro and the rest of the country.

This year’s theme, “Celebrating 30 years of democracy towards women’s development”, aims to highlight the significant roles that women play in our communities, workplaces, and homes. It’s a time to reflect on the journey traversed, the victories attained and the challenges that still need to be addressed.

The legendary women of the fifties who marched to Pretoria to break down the barriers of discrimination, paved the way for women to speak out for their rights and place as equals. Theses heroines can never be forgotten.

Region G is thrilled to announce the start of its annual celebration of Women’s Month together with the rest of the city.

The Director for Region G, Mr Mickey Padiachy, says: “This month-long event is dedicated to honouring the strength, resilience and contributions of women in our society especially those in our Region who have been at the forefront of making it a better place.”

“We believe that when we empower women, we empower humanity because they nurture, encourage, support and provide warmth and love freely to those around them,” says Padiachy.

Throughout the month, Region G will host a series of events and activities designed to celebrate women’s achievements and raise awareness about equality. These will include panel discussions featuring influential women leaders, workshops on women’s health and wellness, and networking events to foster connections among women in the community.
