As South Africa celebrates Tourism and Heritage Month this September, Joburg Tourism is proud to back four major lifestyle events that capture the spirit of Johannesburg while boosting tourism, jobs, and opportunities for small businesses.
Galaxy 947 Joburg Day returns to the Crocodile Creek Polo Club in Lanseria with a one-day celebration of music, food, and family fun. With over 15,000 attendees expected and a wide media reach through 947 radio and other outlets, Joburg Tourism will amplify the city’s energy as a premier entertainment hub.
Basha Uhuru Sound of Freedom Music Concert moves to 13 September 2025 at Constitution Hill’s brand-new venue, We the People’s Park. With a curated market, live performances, food stalls, and activations, the concert celebrates Heritage Month while drawing more than 8,000 visitors. Joburg Tourism will use the festival to encourage attendees to explore other attractions, reinforcing the city’s cultural pull.
Attracting over 40,000 people, the DStv Delicious International Food and Music Festival at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit blends global music, gourmet and street food, fashion, and art. Joburg Tourism’s partnership will highlight the city’s culinary diversity, provide five SMMEs with vital market access, and position Johannesburg as Africa’s lifestyle capital. With a media reach of 33.7 million, the event powerfully showcases the city’s vibrancy.
The Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Festival continues its legacy at the Sandton Convention Centre, drawing more than 30,000 enthusiasts over three days. Alongside world-class jazz, the festival enables 25 SMMEs in arts, crafts, and fashion to benefit from its R50.5 million economic impact in 2024, while contributing to artist development and social cohesion.
“These events are more than just entertainment – they are catalysts for growth, job creation, and cultural exchange,” says Belu Mabandla, Executive Head: Destination Marketing & Events. “They reflect Johannesburg’s bold and diverse spirit.”
By supporting these events, Joburg Tourism aligns with its mission to position the city as a lifestyle destination, strengthen its global image, and ensure inclusive growth through cultural celebration.
