Portia Motsepe is a dynamic force in the digital media and communication field. Currently, she serves as the Digital Media and Website Manager at City Power, as well as the Acting Senior Manager for Public Relations and Communication.
With a rich background in journalism and business management, Portia holds a Master of Business from Mancosa, obtained in 2022, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism, and a Digital Marketing Certificate from Wits Plus, among other qualifications. She is committed to innovation and growth in her industry, backed by her extensive experience and knowledge in the digital media and communication space.
Originating from Rustenburg, from the small village of Chaneng, near Sun City, Portia’s upbringing was filled with love and support from her family. As a middle child, she learned valuable lessons about honesty and openness, shaping her into a leader who values authentic relationships. She encourages her colleagues to pursue their dreams without hesitation.
Beginning her career as a social media officer with the City of Johannesburg in 2016, Portia quickly recognised the importance of personal growth and constructive feedback. She believes that “we learn from honesty” and creates an environment where open conversations flourish. Portia understands that everyone receives criticism differently and values understanding these unique perspectives.
In describing herself, Portia reflects, “I am a passionate advocate for growth and authenticity, dedicated to uplifting others and creating open dialogue.” Her career path has been a blend of traditional and digital media, starting with an internship at The New Age newspaper. She has also taken on freelance projects, driven by a passion for entrepreneurship and a desire to help others succeed.

Don’t let anyone dim your light.” She is reminding women to step into their power and pursue their passions without fear or shame.
