Driezek and Orange Farm libraries hosted an exciting coding competition for children aged from 12 to 14 on 2 December 2024. The event showcased the creativity, teamwork, and innovative skills of the young participants.
Three teams competed in the friendly yet intense contest, which tested their ability to solve problems through coding. The Driezek team emerged victorious, proudly taking home the winner’s trophy and medals.
The Orange Farm teams secured second and third positions, earning trophies to celebrate their impressive achievements.
Speaking about the event, 13-year-old participant Oratile Ngwenya shared: “This competition was a fun way to learn coding and work as a team. I’m proud of what we achieved!”
The City of Johannesburg’s Library and Information Services aims to inspire and equip children with valuable digital skills, ensuring they are prepared for the future. Events like these encourage innovation and foster a love for technology among young learners.
