Region B is the only region in the City that boasts two heated swimming pools, namely the Linden Swimming Pool and Coronationville Swimming Pool, and they are open all year round. Most pools in the City are normally open from September to March.

Reanne Lee, Region B’s Sports and Recreation Operational Manager, says both heated swimming pools are inside a dome and the average temperature is 25 °C. The temperature does fluctuate, and pool blankets assist in maintaining the temperature. The size of the pools are 25 meters in length and width.

“We aim to give visitors and residents an amazing experience when they visit our facilities. We also clean the pools daily to aid in that experience,” says Lee.

Linden Swimming Pool

The Linden Swimming Pool is on the corner of 11th Street and 4th Avenue. It’s a go-to swim destination and used by residents, avid swimmers, and professional coaches all year-round.

Walking around on the site on a winter’s morning sounds like a playful summer’s day with the cheerful sounds in the air coming from the heated pool section. It seems like the perfect escape to clear one’s head with a splash in the heated pool.

The Linden Swimming Pool boast a baby swimming pool outside surrounded by a perfect green lawn and an in-house heated pool. The premises also have male and female restrooms equipped with shower and changing facilities. The history dates back to 1964 when the premises were officially declared open by the Mayor at the time Cllr Pieter Roos.

“Linden Swimming Pool has 14 staff members who include cleaners, cashiers and lifeguards,” says Lee.

Activities that take place on site include water aerobics and coaching. During peak season, the pool receives up to 8 000 visitors a month. For more information on the Linden Swimming Pool contact 011 476 6277.

Coronationville Swimming Pool

The Coronationville Swimming Pool is situated in Glencairn Street, Coronationville. It has similar features as Linden Swimming Pool. For more information on the Coronationville Swimming Pool contact 011 673 7201.

Opening times at the pools might differ but normal hours are weekdays from Tuesday to Friday from 07:00 to 19:00, Saturdays from 07:30 to 17:00 and Sundays and Public holidays from 10:00 to 17:00. Entrance fees are R15 for adults, R8 for children and senior citizens enter free.
